Delegates from Finance Ministries of 40 AIIB Member States pay Visit to the CT4CT project (“One Scan Dual Screening”) as well as its New Energy Mobile CT Screening Vehicle
Morning, September 4, 2026, a delegation consisting of finance ministry officials from 40 Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) member states and AIIB Board of Directors representatives visited Beijing E‑Town International Pharmaceutical Innovation Park (BioPark) for an on‑site tour of Beijing’s AI‑driven medical innovation achievements. As one of the key exhibits, the CT4CT project (“One‑Scan Dual‑Screening”) along with its new energy mobile low‑dose CT screening vehicle jointly designed, initiated and implemented by the Beijing Chest Hospital, Capital Medical University and Innovation Alliance on Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment (Beijing), drew wide attention for its innovative “AI + mobile healthcare” model. Mr. Yan Jin, Deputy Director‑General of Beijing Municipal Health Commission, Mrs. Liu Chang, Director of the International Cooperation Division, and other officials joined the tour.

Prof. Yuhong Liu, Chair of the Innovation Alliance on Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment (Beijing), on behalf of Beijing Chest Hospital and the Alliance, briefed foreign guests on the project background, progress and the new‑energy mobile screening vehicle. She noted that the CT4CT project (“One‑Scan Dual‑Screening”) was launched at the end of 2023. Guided by the principle of 'driving to people in need', it delivers free dual screening for lung cancer and tuberculosis to grassroots communities. To date, the project has covered 44 counties and districts across 17 provinces in China, reaching 111 townships and sub‑districts, with more than 150 000 cumulative screening cases. Financed by multiple government fundings at various levels, the project has built an “AI preliminary screening + four‑level review for quality control” system based on a remote cloud imaging platform. More than 200 radiologists produce graded reports, and severe positive cases are confirmed via multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) consultations.

Outside the exhibition hall, foreign guests boarded the new‑energy mobile CT screening vehicle for a field tour and raised numerous questions regarding its performance. Prof. Liu responded to each inquiry. The 8‑metre‑long vehicle is equipped with a 231 kWh battery pack, supporting at least 150 CT scans on a single charge. It also allows “scanning while charging” with 220 V mains power. Adopting an integrated vehicle‑and‑equipment design together with bespoke shock‑absorbing chassis, the vehicle effectively dampens vibrations from bumpy roads to guarantee stable CT performance. Several foreign guests also asked detailed questions about vehicle costs and pricing, to which Prof. Liu gave frank responses based on regulatory status and market accesses. The foreign guests spoke highly of the project’s innovative grassroots‑screening practices and the vehicle’s technical design.

The solution holds great promise for global roll‑out, especially in countries burdened by high rates of tuberculosis and other lung diseases. In recent years, Innovation Alliance on Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment (Beijing), together with Beijing Chest Hospital, have launched multiple initiatives to promote Chinese‑origin innovations, products and practices for tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment worldwide. The progress of the CT4CT project (“One‑Scan Dual‑Screening”) and the development status of its new‑energy mobile screening vehicle have been presented to multilateral global health oraganisations on various occasions, earning widespread attention and recognition. Efforts for global promotion will continue. International organizations, institutions, national health authorities and enterprises with interest are welcome to join in advancing this innovative multiplexing disease‑screening initiative across the globe.
